Startup - Latest News

Its a month since the CORD interview. In that time I've been very busy. Still working fulltime and trying to work on logistics of a startup in the background. Mid April I had official notification that my CORD application was successful. I previously discovered one of the conditions of draw down was a tax clearance cert from the Revenue. Like everyone else I have an innate fear of dealing with tax collectors. My situation was further complicated by the fact that I contracted for a number of years. During this period I had the misfortune of dealing with an accountant who is one of the laziest professionals I have ever dealt with. Our relationship ended quite poorly and my fear was that he hadn't closed everything off as promised which would come back to haunt me. Thankfully everything is in order so now I am good to go. The hothouse program itself started on the 7th of April with a workshop. There's one every month and attendance is mandatory. The first session was on strategic planning but would have been best described as perfecting your pitch. Each of us had to get up and describe our ideas to the rest of the group and take feedback. Next session is this 5-8th May and is about business plan construction, IP issues and articulating your proposition.
